And after looking around at them all he said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored. Luke 6:10
In today’s chapter, we find Jesus once again speaking to the Pharisees. It seems they are always trying to ambush and catch Him in some false teaching. Little did they know, they were debating with GOD, the Commander Himself. They were so tied up in keeping the letter of the law that they continually missed Jesus’ mission in bring healing and hope to this broken world.
In verse 8 we are introduced to a man with a “withered hand.” We are not told how his hand was injured or whether this was a condition he was born with. Jesus tells the man, “Stretch out your hand.” Stop right there… the man had a hand with no function or capability. He could have said, “Um, excuse me sir, but remember my hand doesn’t work. I can’t do this.” If he had, he would have missed out on a miracle because the request seemed to be too hard. As a good soldier, instead he obeys and follows orders. The man hadn’t used that hand in a long time, if ever. However, he today tries once again to stretch it out and…is instantly healed.
Is God asking you to do something that seems impossible? Do you have a “condition” that is in need of healing? Do what our Lord, the Great Physician is asking of you and watch the miraculous happen.
