1 Corinthians 3

1 Corinthians  3 – Growing Up

“But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, for you are still of the flesh.” 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

Paul was dealing with an unfortunate situation at the church of Corinth. Many of the believers that accepted Jesus several years before, sadly appeared spiritually immature. Thus, Paul’s addressing them as spiritual babies.

The spiritual issue at the church of Corinth has become an epidemic in modern-day Christianity. Today, we see many people confess Jesus as their Savior, yet very little spiritual fruit comes from them. Unfortunately, without “working out your salvation,” many of these confessing Christians will remain as babes; emulating more of the world rather than that of Jesus.

My friend, have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? If so, can others see your spiritual growth? Studying your Bible and praying to God is a critical component of spiritual maturity.  If you haven’t grown, perhaps it’s time to start taking the Lord’s things seriously. Ask God to give you a heart of maturity. Attending church services and studying your Bible is a great place to start.
