1 Thessalonians 4 – Your Sanctification

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the unbelievers who do not know God” 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

The intimate relationship that’s shared between a man and a woman, joined by a marital union, is incredibly unique. This natural yet profoundly emotional synergy amongst the married has a spiritual meaning; something those outside of Christ likely won’t understand.

God created sexuality in all forms to not only be special, but to be holy. That’s right, HOLY! And not only holy but righteous (Right before God). Unfortunately, this incredible gift God has given to us has been disrespected, exploited, and ultimately defiled by the world.

Sadly, sexual immorality has become more common amongst those who profess Christ. The results are disastrous. The Christian divorce rate is almost as high as unbelievers, the spiritual health of the fallen saint is compromised, and ultimately, the testimony of Jesus Christ is marred. All for what? Sinful pleasures that last but a short a season.

Are you sharing a sexual relationship with someone who is not your husband or wife? If so, this is an extremely dangerous venture your playing with. Unfortunately, failure to comply with God’s holiness can have some severe consequences. Blessings can be removed, joy is taken away, and potential chaos can evolve in your future marriage.

May you have the strength to answer the high calling of holiness and keep your body in control.“ For this is the will of God, your sanctification”!
