2 Corinthians 8

2 Corinthians 8 – Rags to Riches

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9

Jesus, the Lord of glory had the whole host of heaven in the palm of His hands. Angelic hymns filled His ears in a majestic chorus. His inheritance was all the world and the creation thereof. His wealth was immeasurable and invaluable. By all means, Jesus was rich beyond any intellectual’s imagination.

Then the stunning verse above reads, “that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.”

What a descent! The fall from wealth to poverty is undesirable, unimaginable, and incomprehensible. Like a king stooping to become a peasant, yet worse. Why? So that in His poverty, we can become rich. Rich with eternal joy, rich with blameless perfection, rich with pure satisfaction.

CHALLENGE

Did you know that Jesus left all the glories in heaven just to save you? For our sake, He (God) made Him (Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God”(2 Corinthians 5:21)

Today’s challenge is for you to realize how much Jesus left for you and for me. Literally, He gave His all. May God give you the strength to pursue His righteousness in light of all He has done for you.
