Acts 13

Acts 13

“Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.  While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.” Acts 13:1-3

In the church of Antioch there were many gifted men. There were apostles, prophets, teachers, elders as well as Paul and Barnabas. From the outside looking in, one would say that the Antioch Church was wealthy when it came to gifted men. Although this was the case, God designed each church to have His saints endowed with an array of gifts “given according to the measure of God’s grace.” Each one unique, functioning in a very specific way; so that the body of Christ maintains a level of spiritual health. Each saint, a member, working in unison with their spiritual comrades.

Soldier, how long has it been since you pledged our allegiance to Jesus, the Lord? Our combat manual says each saint is gifted with at least one spiritual gift. Do you know your gift? Are you exercising it?

Each one of us will give an account as to what we have done with our lot. This may include not only the resources that God has provided in our lives, but also the gifts He’s imparted to each of us.
