Colossians 2

Colossians 2 – FIRM FOUNDATION

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7

Paul was part of the beginnings of the church at Colosse. He had watched them grow and although many of the believers were mature, Paul warned them that wolves would come to attempt to enslave them from the very thing Jesus came to deliver them from, the law.

Knowing this, Paul exhorted the Christians to establish a strong base in the word of God. So when the winds of false doctrine blew, they would be unmoved.

Not only would they not moved, but being “rooted and built up in Jesus meant that” they were able to walk before the world and bear fruits. As the world looked on, it was evident that there was something unique the Christians possessed; a special relationship with God.

CHALLENGE

How is your walk? Are you moved unduly when the winds of temptations blow? The only way to stand firm is to be deeply rooted in the Lord! To be deeply rooted means establishing a healthy relationship with God by reading His word.  Are you ready to get serious?
