Galatians 2 – The Law Of Slavery

“Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery.”Galatians 2:4

The law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus began to preach liberty and freedom from the law. Any man who confesses and receives the Gospel receives eternal life. Salvation is based on faith and faith alone. It was liberating to the Saints (believers) of God knowing that their salvation was not based on good deeds or their moral aptitude.

Nevertheless, some heretics began to secretly bring in some legalistic rules into the body of Christ. Preaching that faith was not sufficient, that the law had precedence. The apostle was appalled to hear this considering that Christ had already delivered the saints from the law.

Had the Saints at Galatia been intimately versed with the Scriptures, they would’ve been able to combat these heretical doctrines. Unfortunately, this scenario continues to permeate Christendom today. Although many people confess the Lord, much too often, they’re unaware of what the Bible teaches. Because of this, heretics teach damnable heresies and often mislead the entire congregations.

Do you know the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior? If so, how familiar are you with your Bible? It is impossible to follow the way of the Lord if we don’t know His teachings. Let us challenge ourselves as Paul challenged Timothy: “Study to show yourself approved and God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth!”
