John 21

John 21

Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, ‘Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?’ When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, what about this man?’ Jesus said to him, ‘If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!’” John 21:20-22

Peter was walking with Jesus on the shore when he began to enquire the fate of John the disciple. Jesus quickly turned to Peter and said ““If it is my will that he remains until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!”. Another word, what business is that to you? Many of us are so enamored with what everyone else’s doing. What does it matter to you? All that matters is, are you fulfilling the will of the Lord? Are you?

God says “pursue me and my righteousness, and the rest shall be given to you!” The world bombards us with so many competing affections, with standards to live up to and the pressures to succeed in this very competitive world. But do any of these objectives really matter? No, unfortunately they have no merit when death comes.

The only thing that matters in your life, is God. Our affections should be monopolized with his will and his will alone. You want to be happy? You want to be satisfied? Then follow Him!
