Luke 7

“Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven – for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” And He said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’” Luke 7:47-48

Allow me to paint a picture for you. Imagine you heard about a new warrior in town. He is up and coming, extremely popular and really making an impact. You invite him to your home for dinner to get to know him better. As dinner begins, strange woman comes in to your house, filled of tears and starts washing his feet. Would you be taken aback? I would.

It is assumed this “sinful woman” was a prostitute and chances are everyone at the dinner table knew of her lowly reputation. Here is something to ponder: So did Jesus. What if she was so intimidated by the opinions of the dinner guests that she didn’t come? Her life would have continued down the same destructive path. Yet, she pushed through her fears and knelt before the feet of the Savior.

We read earlier in this chapter that Jesus was performing all kinds of physical miracles, but this woman knew she needed spiritual healing, something only Jesus can provide. Because of her profound faith, she was forgiven and spiritually healed. Do you find yourself relating to this situation? Is there a hole in your heart that is never filled? That is because Jesus is the only one who can bring peace, happiness, and hope in this life. Nothing else will work. I implore you to follow this woman’s example. Ignore the opinions of others. Push through the skepticism and kneel at the feet of Jesus. I promise that God will honor your request for “healing” and give you a life worth living.
