1 Corinthians 1

1 Corinthians 1 – Christian Unity
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Corinthians 1:10

The saints at Corinth were relatively new believers and were a diverse from all over the region. There were Hebrews, Asians, Greeks, and Romans all worshipping together. Although their cultures and ethnicity were very foreign from one another, they were united with one common bond; the Lord Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, in some cases, these differences created a little friction. Paul was quick to respond in exhorting them with the introductory versus found in 1 Corinthians:1. “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you”.

In Paul’s exhortation, He reminded them they were not only to be of one mind but they were to be “perfectly joined together.” In other words, they were to be working collectively in the same direction because they were now one in Christ Jesus.

CHALLENGE

Perhaps you’re at a place where you’re dealing with some personalities that are not only exasperating but also at times problematic. Perhaps God has placed them in your life as “character” builders. Use this opportunity to train yourself to become not only enduring but also more patient and graceful. After all, the body is made of many different members. Without the saints learning to work together, we’ll never spiritually grow up the way God intended us too. May God give you the strength to overlook the idiosyncratic flaws of others and find the positives in respect to what God is doing in their lives.
