Acts 19

Acts 19

“And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.” Acts 19:11-12

The Apostolic age was an extraordinary time. God had been silent for over 400 years (in between the Old and New Testament), that was… until He sent His Son. After Jesus’s death and resurrection, God gifted man with the Holy Spirit; each one blessed with a “gift according to the measure of God’s grace.” Paul wrote to the Ephesians that God “gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers.”

The gift of an Apostle was very unique and limited to first century Christian men. Much like the Lord Jesus, God had mighty miracles accompany the Apostles to attest that their Message was from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Apostles had many extraordinary gifts, such as revelation, prophecy, and the gift of healing. God continued to use the Apostles until their pen letters began to circulate. After the Apostles passed, the Lord was gracious to give His people the Bible in its entirety.

Warrior, have you ever asked yourself as to what gift God has given to you? Each saint who has given their life to Lord Jesus is given a spiritual gift. Very similar to a super power. The question is—which gift do you have? And will you use if for the sake of God’s Kingdom.
