Mark 13

And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.” Mark 13:11

Jesus is sharing with his disciple some very heavy information (aka: deep stuff) about the end of time. He talks about the destruction of the temple, rumors of wars, wars, false messiahs, nations rising against nations, etc. This must have been very concerning and even frightening to the disciples. Notice in verse 11 Jesus says, ‘when they are brought to trial’ not ‘if’ or ‘perhaps’. Jesus knew His disciples would face persecution and He wanted them to be properly prepared.

Regardless of all the chaos Jesus predicted, He reminds them not to be anxious He promises that the Holy Spirit will empower and comfort them. The Holy Spirit will also be personally present and speak on their behalf. The same holds true for us today. As a believer in Jesus, we are given the Holy Spirit to live within us. That should bring each of us great comfort knowing God is with us regardless of what we are going through and He stands ready to help.
