Romans 10 – Video Day!

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.” Romans 10:1-5

Most of us can appreciate a good Samaritan. They’re known for giving their time and personal resources. These resources can be financial or simply just the gift of hospitality. Samaritan’s like to share and give to others who are less fortunate. These good works are applauded and encouraged in our society because possessing such attributes are worthy of great praise.

Unfortunately, many of these good Samaritans are dependent on being good to enter the kingdom of God. Israel was guilty of this. They went about to attempt to gain their own righteousness by following the law. Such an attempt to achieve this lofty goal proved to be futile. If you really think about it, it is like telling God that you’re good enough for heaven because of your good works.

Sadly, the Bible teaches the contrary. In Isaiah, it says that our “works of righteousness, are like filthy rags.” So, no matter how good a person is, it will never be sufficient before a holy God. And why is this the case? Because God demands perfection.

Why did God send His Son to die on our behalf? To make a payment we could not. Are you depending on your good works or are you trusting in the righteous work found only on the cross? May God give you grace to trust in Jesus for He is the only way to God.
