Romans 5

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.” Romans 5:12

In the beginning, when man was created in the garden, sin was completely absent. The relationship between God and man was pure and undefiled. That is until Adam disobeyed God. Adam’s defiance introduced sin and by way of sin, death accompanied it. Because of this destructive evolution, Adam experienced death in two-fold: physical death and spiritual death.

Let me explain…Adam experienced spiritual death, which meant that he was now cut off from God. The intimate relationship Adam once enjoyed was now fractured. Therefore, Adam’s soul was now in a state of condemnation and was in need of spiritual reconciliation.

Not only was Adam spiritually lost but would experience a physical death. Because of sin we not only experience death but we experience a litany of physical diseases; aching sorrows and destructive scenarios such as divorce, murder, and abuses of all kinds.

My friend, praise God that Jesus came to bring payment on our behalf. His death on the cross was the only way to make things right. And he did so by (John 1:12) “…all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” May we be certain that we have made peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
